MBA Orientation Week 2025 – A Memorable Start for Batch 2025-2027
The Orientation Week for the MBA Batch 2025-2027 at Som-Lalit Institute of Management Studies (SLIMS) marked the beginning of an inspiring academic journey, filled with learning, exploration, and community building. Spanning across five engaging days (04th – 08th August, 2025), the program was thoughtfully designed to provide students with a holistic transition into management education—balancing academics, creativity, team bonding, and industry exposure.
Day 1: Setting the Foundation (04th Aug., 2025)
The inaugural session set the tone for the week, graced by Managing Trustee Shri Pragnesh K. Shastri, Director Dr. Neha Patel, and Additional Director Dr. Supriya Bhutiani, who welcomed the new students warmly. They shared insights into the institute’s vision, values, and expectations, emphasizing integrity, innovation, and industry readiness. The sessions familiarized students with the curriculum, campus culture, and support systems, ensuring a smooth academic transition.
Day 2: Discovering Purpose & Building Connections (05th Aug., 2025)
The second day focused on self-awareness, communication, and peer bonding through engaging activities:
- Why MBA? – Helping students reflect on their purpose and career goals.
- Word Game – A fun memory-based activity for name recollection.
- Action Chain Game – A non-verbal communication challenge to build collaboration.
This day successfully combined fun with foundational learning, helping students understand the “why” behind their MBA journey while strengthening interpersonal connections.
On Day 2 of the Orientation Program at Somlalit Institute of Management Studies, our esteemed alumni graced the occasion and addressed the new students. They shared their experiences, career journeys, and valuable insights, inspiring the new batch to aim high and make the most of their time at the institute. Their interaction not only motivated the students but also created a sense of belonging and connection with the Somlalit family.
Day 3: Team Building & Startup Awareness Workshop (06th Aug., 2025)
Day three featured team-building exercises designed to promote trust, leadership, and problem-solving. Students collaborated in interactive games, learning the value of synergy and mutual support.
The highlight of the day was a Startup Awareness Workshop by PDEU Innovation & Incubation Centre (IIC). Experts introduced students to the entrepreneurial ecosystem, sharing insights on idea generation, business planning, funding avenues, and incubation support. Students were encouraged to think creatively and explore their entrepreneurial potential.
Day 4: Creativity & Negotiation – Make and Sell Activity (07th Aug., 2025)
The day began with an academic orientation on the GTU syllabus, followed by an innovative hands-on activity – Make and Sell Cards. Students worked in teams to design and craft creative cards, interpreting management values through art.
The activity went beyond creativity, as students then marketed and sold their cards to predefined buyers, showcasing negotiation and bargaining skills. Faculty appreciated the students’ imagination, teamwork, and enthusiasm, highlighting the importance of design thinking and entrepreneurial mindset in management education.
Day 5: Clubs, Careers & Corporate Insights (08th Aug., 2025)
The final day brought a strong professional focus:
Club Introductions – Presenting the vibrant student-led clubs that extend learning beyond classrooms.
LinkedIn Workshop – Guiding students to build a professional online brand and strengthen career networks.
Expert Talk by Mr. Dhiraj Advani (CHRO, KD Hospital, Ahmedabad) – Delivering valuable industry insights on professional etiquette, skill-building, and bridging the gap between academics and corporate expectations.
The orientation concluded with an interactive Q&A, leaving students inspired and motivated to embark on their MBA journey with clarity, discipline, and purpose.
The Orientation Week 2025 at SLIMS was more than just an introduction—it was an immersive experience that blended academic readiness with creativity, teamwork, and industry exposure. Over five days, the students of Batch 2025-2027 built strong connections, gained valuable insights, and took their first steps towards becoming leaders of tomorrow.
